My second and last vacation trip this summer was to Barcelona with my family. We stayed in Barcelona for one week and then we went on a cruise in Italy and France. It's was me, Daniel, my mum, my stepdad, my brother, my brother's wife and my two nieces. The trip was to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. I thought I would start with telling you about our first week when we stayed in Barcelona and what I thought about the city;
My thoughts on Barcelona;
To be honest with you, I've never fallen in love with the countries in the the South of Europe. I've always preferred places like London, Helsinki or Copenhagen (which is weird because I really like the sun and warm weather). So I wasn't really expecting a lot when we came to Barcelona. Like I expected, I can't say I fell head over heels for the city but it had a lot more to offer then I first thought. Barcelona has some nice beaches, a lot of interesting sights and excellent shopping. One thing I didn't like though was that a lot of people that worked in shops and restaurants were pretty rude.
The highlights from our time in Barcelona;
The Hop On - Hop Off bus: This is something me and Daniel would never do if we were traveling on our own but because we had our nieces with us we thought it was a good idea because they weren't able to walk that far. And you know what!? We had a wonderful day exploring the main sights in Barcelona with the bus.
The shopping: Barcelona is pretty awesome when it comes to shopping!
The Beach: I was pleasantly surprised by the beach in Barcelona because people had told me that it was really dirty and disgusting. But that isn't true! Barcelona has a pretty clean and nice beach!
Port Aventura: Port Aventura is a theme-park outside Barcelona that has the highest roller-coaster in Europe. That roller-coaster was one of the best rides I've ever been on!
So even if Barcelona is not on the list of my favorite cities I can see myself returning in the future just to enjoy the sun and beaches combined with city-life.
Have you ever been to Barcelona? What's your favorite/least favorite thing about Barcelona?
